Where Technologies meets Education: The Why, What, How, and When

Walid (or Alid) is a teacher of English language, Science and ICT. Currently he is teaching at Puni, Temburong Primary School in Brunei Darussalam.

He has worked closely within the departments of Ministry of Education, Brunei. He was once a facilitator to Department of Curriculum Department for SPN21 Science workshops for Brunei Primary Teachers. In 2012, he was selected by the Director of Curriculum Department to be part of the pioneer team and facilitator for School Based Assesment for Learning (SBAfL). He undergo training to carried out the SBAfL workshop for both Government and Private schools teachers. He continued with the SBAfL enrichment course including Cognitive Coaching with Dr Ho Boon Tiong from ClassPoint Consulting (Singapore) 2013-2014. He was one of the Spotlight speakers during the 17th International Conference on Education organised by the Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

He has been with Microsoft Education Programme for educators since 2011 (now known as Microsoft Innovative Educator Program). In 2011, he was announced as Champion for the Innovative Teachers Competition, organised by STEPS centre and Microsoft (Brunei). The following year, he was announced the Country winner (Brunei) during the Microsoft Regional (APAC) Partners in Learning Forum in Auckland, New Zealand. In November 2012, he has the opportunity to participate at the Microsoft Global Partners in Learning Forum in Prague, Czech Republic. In 2015, he participated at the Microsoft E2 Forum, at Microsoft Headquarter in Redmond, Washington, USA. Prior to the start of the forum, he passed his Microsoft Certified Educator examination, and the first Bruneian to be certified.
